Turkey & Turkish Olive Oil

Expanded Turkish Olive Oil Section Coming Soon!

Contrary to popular belief, the olive tree is not endemic to Western Europe. The history of olive oil can be traced back to 600 BC, where olives were first produced by a facility in west Anatolia near Izmir, Turkey. Symbolizing peace, the olive is mentioned in many parts of scripture and the fruit has always been central to the Mediterranean culture and cuisine. During the 2018/2019 harvest season, Turkey was the fourth largest producer of olive oil in Europe and the second largest producer of table olives in the world. Olive oil is an essential part of Turkey’s economy, and we at Zeytin strive to find the finest oils to share with the rest of the world.
